Creation - The
Scientifically Intelligent Belief System Part 2

Which came
first the chicken or the egg is an interesting
question that is full of scientific
difficulties. How could the chicken come first
without being an egg and how could the egg
survive without the chicken, where did its
information come from to make the egg and to
determine it was a chicken etc.
With the
advance of scientific knowledge (not
evolutionary theory but real science), we have
developed a whole new field of science dealing
with the interdependence of environmental
systems. When one species disappears it can
affect many others. However if the world has
no life and life begins would the world be able
to sustain that life? According to our own
current knowledge the answer would be a
resounding no. There is an incredible amount
of interdependency for our world to exist.
For
instance, there are many theories as to how the
moon first appeared. Each theory has its own
set of problems but the fact is life would not
exist on our planet unless the moon did exist
and in its relatively current position. The
moon is responsible for a number of things not
the least of which is the steady axis of the
earth. Without a steady axis we would not have
consistent seasons. Half the planet could burn
up while the other half became a solid block of
ice, a vastly greater difference then we have
today as winter could remain for years, etc.
What other
systems do we have to have in place for life to
exist: fresh water, suitable atmosphere, ozone
layer, magnetic fields, suitable distance to sun
and moon, soil. How easy is this to
duplicate? Man has attempted to create his
own biosphere with terrible results as it is
complex and difficult. Someone who studies in
this field would recognize that a single life
that started on this planet would die before any
other life could occur. Life starting is not
improbable but impossible – it would require a
supernatural act for this to occur.
Supernatural is what the creation account deals
with. God made all the interacting systems in
six days. These systems work together in a
manner to sustain life. This is a unique event
in our universe. He made it for you and
me. He also made it temporary. The
physical world will eventually end. That a
definite endpoint exists is what science teaches
us too. Knowing that is the case and that it
requires a supernatural beginning, what manner
of person ought you to be before your Creator?
"By the same word the present heavens and earth
are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of
judgment and destruction of ungodly men. But do
not forget this one thing, dear friends: With
the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a
thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not
slow in keeping his promise, as some understand
slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting
anyone to perish, but everyone to come to
repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.
The heavens will disappear with a roar; the
elements will be destroyed by fire, and the
earth and everything in it will be laid bare.
Since everything will be destroyed in this way,
what kind of people ought you to be? You ought
to live holy and godly lives as you look forward
to the day of God and speed its coming. That day
will bring about the destruction of the heavens
by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.
But in keeping with his promise we are looking
forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the
home of righteousness.. So then, dear friends,
since you are looking forward to this, make
every effort to be found spotless, blameless and
at peace with him." 2Peter 3:7-14
