Operation: COVID-19

The United Nations has now declared the deadly coronavirus a pandemic. According to the World Health Organization, a pandemic is declared when a new disease for which people do not have immunity spreads around the world beyond expectations. This is the case with the coronavirus with mounting new cases and deaths daily.

The coronavirus gets its name from the crown-like spikes on its surface. It is from a group of viruses that can cause a range of symptoms including a runny nose, cough, sore throat and fever. While some are mild, such as the common cold, others are more likely to lead to pneumonia, which carries several complications. The viruses are normally spread through direct contact with an infected person.

The virus emerged in China on December 31, 2019 and started getting attention in January when the death toll began to edge up steadily. Once it left the Chinese border and showed up in neighbouring countries, it started to get attention.

China, to its credit, introduced draconian measures to keep its population quarantined, especially in the city of Wuhan, ground zero for the virus. In the past few days, reports out of China say the cases have been going down. The new epicentre is now Europe, especially Italy, where the death toll keeps rising.

There now a worldwide operation to contain and prepare for the virus even in countries that have not reported a case to date. The concern about the coronavirus is the rate at which it is spreading – reaching more than 100 countries in less than 3-months, unlike SARS in the early 2000s, which made it into 26 countries.

What can we learn from the coronavirus? Should there be a lesson in it for all of us, especially those who believe in the God of the Bible, YAHWEH, that He’s sovereign and still in charge of this universe? If you were to follow the media, you’d conclude the world is falling part – stock markets reeling from the effects of the virus, businesses in decline, travel curtailed, schools and universities closing, panic buying, the entertainment industry almost brought to a standstill, sporting events cancelled, and churches cancelling services. Yet, in all of this, there’s no mass interest on whether this is just the beginning of more disastrous events on the horizon.

The Word of God is clear about the upheaval in the end time. In my opinion, the coronavirus scare pales in comparison to what lies ahead for the human race when God’s wrath, and even Satan’s wrath, grapples this planet.

“This, too, shall pass,” I’m hearing from politicians and other leaders.  They are right.  This will pass for sure and everyone will soon forget the 2020 scare, until another ones come along, perhaps more virulent, and possibly more deaths and destruction. But that’s exactly how the Bible predicts these events will happen during the closing days of time. The beginning of sorrows or the birth pangs that are often forgotten, but when they come again it’s with more intensity.

I don’t believe the coronavirus has anything to do with the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, which carries of message of pestilences that will grip the Earth in the end time. This horseman, to be preceded by the (first) white horseman (false Christ/prophets); (second) red horseman representing war; and the black horse (third) representing famine will bring death and destruction that will be more catastrophic than the coronavirus.

As we approach the Passover, God’s people must prepare for turbulent times ahead. Out of that will come our true and ONLY hope – the returning Jesus Christ. Yes, we are being mocked and jeered as nut cases for our belief that there is ONLY ONE true God, YAHWEH and for believing in the Bible – often dismissed as fiction. The world is NOT preparing for His Second Coming, yet the dangerous times ahead cannot be compared with what is happening now.  This is just a warm up – a small operation!   For more on this subject, download FREE our booklet, THE WAY OF ESCAPE – Divine Protection in the Last Days.
