There’s going to be a sound that puts a stop to the noises that our societies are experiencing today. Whether it’s the recession that’s now hitting many countries, efforts to find a way to battle the current pandemic, electioneering among politicians, the wave of street protest for racial injustice, ongoing conflicts among warring nations; human trafficking, crime and other forms of violence, hunger, or diseases. There will be a period of peace before something big, very big, occurs…it will bring about change.
1 Thess. 5:1, “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”
Are we tired and fed up with what we have to endure each day in our lives? Aren’t we getting overly anxious to hear the sound of a trumpet to change everything we have ever known since birth? It will be the day of the trumpet. It will be a day like no other, unique, as there will be other days of a similar nature that will bring about change in the future. What is going to happen?
Zeph. 1: 14. “The great day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. 15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, 16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. 18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
The Bible has a lot to say about the change that is coming, but before the change occurs, this planet is going to feel the wrath of God. Satan the Devil has his own wrath, too, but that’s another story. Be certain not to be on the receiving end of God’s wrath.
Matthew 24: 29, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
How many people driving in their cars, hard at work, having a good time, eating a meal, on vacation, relaxing at home, in the hospital, are thinking about this great event that will occur in human history. An event that will have an impact on every single human being that was ever born – both dead and alive?
Jesus, the Christ, is coming. His second coming is a must! No one can stop it; no army, no government, no superpower – absolutely nothing! For you it means one day soon you will have to meet your Maker, your Creator, the one who is giving every human being their opportunity to repent or perish. Acts 2:38, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
The wrath of God is coming before that great day of change. It won’t be a nice day for all the inhabitants of the earth. Rev. 6: 12, “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
Will you be able to stand on that day when the Almighty God pours out his wrath on this sin-sick world? Even our powerful leaders will try to escape; how about you? Are you preparing for that change to come? It’s coming for certain; there’s no second-guessing.
1 Corinthians 15: 50 says, “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
Yes, we who have answered God’s call, wait patiently for our change to come. We know it will come in due time, but we pray to The Eternal for patience as this sinful world wax colder and colder, and humanity aspires to continue its quest to live contrary to everything that God’s stands for, and most of all, keep resisting his call so he can offer mercy and grace.
