Is there a solution to our problems?

There’s hardly a month that goes by without political leaders and thinkers having some high-level meeting, be it with NATO, the United Nations, the G8 and G20 (the world’s most developed countries), and other organizations, to try to solve the planet’s burgeoning problems.  Instead of finding solutions, they seem to be creating more problems.

As a result, those meetings are a never-ending exercise, and instead of providing tangible solutions, they appear to defeat the very cause even from before they are held. This makes our global problems seem insurmountable and tell us that our political, economic and social leaders have fallen short. Today, we still grapple with poverty, crime, terrorism, unemployment, environmental decay, economic problems, not to mention a whole host of social challenges.

It’s a continuing vicious cycle of struggles that are inter-related, often times with the wrong approach being used to solve them, and a lack of understanding of the root cause. Leaders after leaders have failed miserably to bring to an end, serious problems in their own countries, not to mention their inability to solve international issues.

What then is the message in all of this as we begin a calendar year? The message is simple: our planet has reached a stage in its existence where physical means can no longer solve what have become deep spiritual problems. Our societies need the hand of the Divine, who’s responsible for creating everything that was ever made. The only true and ever-living God, YAHWEH, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has the solution to all our problems because He made a perfect creation. The fall of humanity brought about sin and destruction; that’s the root of our problem. Until humanity can accept and see the need to apply principles that are biblically based to deal with these global issues, we cannot solve our problems. The truth is: we need the True and Living God!

God is sovereign. He’s in charge of this universe and intervenes in the affairs of humanity whenever He chooses, but we have reached a stage in this post-modern era, where our leaders don’t see a need to seek God as a guide to solve their problems. The Holy Bible has instructions on how human beings must govern their economic, political and social affairs, but the use of the God’s holy word for that purpose has become obsolete. He’s no longer relevant in their eyes, and for some, He doesn’t even exists. So, our problems are mushrooming out of control in some instances, and they will continue in that trend until the Almighty God sends His Son Jesus, the Christ, to set up his everlasting kingdom. This may seem ridiculous to many people, but that’s our only hope and solution to the affairs of men. In the fullness of time, Jesus Christ will be proven to be the only solution. The mockers can say all they want; the reality of God’s coming kingdom is not a matter of if, but when.

Behold I create new heavens and a new Earth…” (Isa. 66:17) says the Word of God, and when this happens, there will be “no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain...” (Rev. 21:4).

The hopelessness that prevails in our society today will become an experience of the past. This is a promise from God, and God cannot lie (Titus 1:2).

As this generation witnesses some unusual happenings in our society, we must realise that global conditions will get worse before they get any better. Yet in the midst of this, God is calling many to repentance – repentance from their transgressions of His law. He wants you turn your life around, accept Christ as Lord and Saviour, be baptized for the remission of sins so you can be part of this coming Kingdom that will once and for all, put an end to the problems of this world.
