Teachings of Your Church

In Christianity, doctrines & dogmas emerge and develop in the service of instruction for the faithful: interpreting the sacred scriptures, understanding our obligations & duties, and safeguarding the lines between allowable diversity and actual error—all of which help to chart the religious pathway of members.  Learning the doctrines of your church may be something you do when you are new, to ensure there are no teachings that are “show stoppers” (too radical for you to accept)!  After this, many people never look at their church doctrine again.

Another opportunity to explore your church’s teaching occurs when new people start attending … as they explore the teachings of your church to see what might be new or different from their old practice, they may come to you for some clarification!

1Peter 3:15  But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and BE READY always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear

The hope is that daily Bible study is a part of everyone’s life in the church.  It allows us to KNOW the God that we worship, and to help our family & others to know God as well.

Jer 9:23-24  Thus says the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:  But let him that glories glory in THIS … that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, says the LORD.

If you are interested in knowing God better & in studying the key doctrine of the church — so you can know & help others… a great place to start is to review our Statement Of Beliefs & then follow Paul’s admonition to the Thessalonians in their quest for God’s Truth:

1Th 5:21  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
