The people of God turn their attention to the triumphant return of Jesus Christ, or the Second Coming, around this time each year. Why? It’s the beginning of the fall festival season for God’s Holy Days.
Over the next month, a small minority of God’s people will celebrate the Feast of Trumpets on September 30, the Day of Atonement on October 9, and the Feast of Tabernacles/Last Great Day from October 14 – 21, 2019.
These “feasts of the LORD,” or “my feasts,” as God boldly proclaims in Lev. 23, where all his festivals are outlined, are NOT observed by the traditional Christian community. Instead, they choose to celebrate pagan-rooted festivals such as Christmas and Easter, and ignore God’s commanded festivals branding them “Jewish.” Of course, they are Jewish; who else God was dealing with at that time? The only nation He was dealing with when He gave His laws was Israel. All the laws of God are Jewish, for that matter – thou shalt not murder, commit adultery, steal etc. Not because the other laws such as Sabbath, weekly and annual, is inconvenient to observe why they must be abandoned and instead embrace false days that have nothing to do with Jesus Christ. That’s Christmas and Easter for you – the two biggest Christian festivals. False!
If you truly want to know the truth, study God’s annual festivals of Lev. 23, and you will see how relevant and meaningful they are in the life of a Christian. Wouldn’t you rather celebrate a day that God has given, Jewish or not, rather than observe a day when pagans paid tribute to their false gods? Think about it!
The instrument known as a trumpet carries a warning of impending destruction; a warning that something significant is about to happen. I Cor. 15 and 2 Thess. 4, and several places in Rev.elation, clearly tell us about the sound a trumpet that will signal the return of Jesus Christ. The festival that opens the fall holy day season is called the Feast of Trumpets. This festival symbolically portrays the return of the King of all Kings, the LORD of all lords, Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the universe. Are you ready to meet Him?
God is calling many people today, although only a few are heeding that call. This holy day should act as a warning to all humanity that Jesus Christ is returning whether you believe it or not. Your non-belief cannot stop Him! He is coming! The King is coming! If He is calling you, your best choice is to heed His call, repent and be baptized to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
When that step is taken, you are a changed person – “a new creature in Christ.” You are destined to be part of His coming kingdom that will be established on the Earth. “We will be kings and priests and we shall reign on the earth,” says the Book of Revelation. It’s not about going to heaven, but being part of an everlasting kingdom that overturn the kingdoms of men and become the Kingdom of God (Rev. 11:15).
That trumpet will sound one day soon. Whether you are dead are alive in Christ, it does not matter, you will hear it and rise to a new life, a new age, everlasting life and as citizens of the Kingdom of God. The trumpet is about to be blown. Will you be ready? For more on this subject, download our booklet, WHY CHRIST MUST RETURN!
