Health & Wealth Gospel

Prosperity theology (sometimes referred to as the prosperity gospel, the health and wealth gospel, the gospel of success, or seed faith) is a religious belief among some Protestant Christians that … financial blessing and physical well-being are ALWAYS the will of God for them, and that faith, positive speech, and donations to religious causes, will increase one’s material wealth…

Mat 6:33  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things (food, drink, clothing) shall be added to you.

It clearly is twisting scripture to say that God MUST bless all faithful Christians

God  DOES  bless those who seek Him first—not always with great money and wealth, but always, in the end, with all spiritual blessings that money cannot buy.

In the early church, scripture shows many poor were responding to the gospel.  Paul was involved in having Gentile churches collect funds to support impoverished Christians in Jerusalem (1 Cor 16:1–4; 2 Cor 8:1–9:15; Rom 15:14–32).  God was not blessing each Christian with riches?!?

Other scriptures show BENEFITS to trials and affliction… (NOT to “being rich”?!?)

“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience” (James 1:2–3).

“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but rejoice” (1 Peter 4:12–13).

Moses suffered affliction in order to lead the children of God, choosing this rather than the riches of the king’s palace and the pleasures of sin for a season (Hebrews 11:25).

Finally …Scripture warns of significant DANGER to having wealth!

Mat_19:23  Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Luk 6:24 NLT “What sorrow awaits you who are rich, for you have your only happiness now.

Pro 30:8-9  … Give me neither poverty nor riches— Feed me with the food allotted to me;   Lest I be full and deny You, And say, “Who is the LORD?” …

Deu 8:11-19  “Beware that you do not forget the LORD your God …lest—when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them;  and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied;  when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage… —  then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’   Then it shall be, if you by any means forget the LORD your God, and follow other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish.

If the “prosperity gospel” were true… every Christian would be a “millionaire with perfect health” (from God) … then the whole world would very quickly claim to be “Christian” … because of such blessings.  If you want to know the REAL Gospel, Click Here to see what Adrian Davis has to say about it in this Armor Of God program.
